Volta region is one of the ten major regions Ghana is divided into. It is located at the eastern part of Ghana. The Volta region is sharing boundaries with Togo at the east, also, with greater Accra and Eastern region at the west, and the northern region at the north. The region is named after the big river Volta found within the boundaries of it.

The indigenous people of the Volta region are the Ewes who migrated from notse ancient Togo. Also, other tribes like the konkombas, kotokolis, basaris, who also migrated from the northern part of Ghana, the northern part of Togo, and also Burkina Faso are occupying the northern part of the Volta region. The ewes who occupy the whole of the Volta region migrated from notse and that have to be an escape from the wicked rule of TOGBUI AGORKORLI; the then chief of the ewes. The ewes are therefore having a rich culture and an interesting history. Few of the towns they occupy today are named after the ordeal they went through during their escape from under the rule of TOGBUI AGORKORLI.
